She began to counsel, and exhort others to the facts. During 2004, she became a Certified Faith Based Clinical Counselor, late Certified Personality Mentor and later began to train other Christian counselors. Dorothy James Wesley joined together with like minds to open Acquire the Legacy Counseling in December 2005. This ministry laid it's foundation on the Biblical Healing Model and the concept of ministering to the whole person—spirit, soul and body. This ministry has seen much fruit and growth in its street outreach to those hurting in the community. The guiding principle of the ministry is found in Luke 4:18-19, “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because He anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim release to the captives, and recovery of sight to the blind, to set free those that are downtrodden, to proclaim the favorable year of the Lord.” Whole person ministry is natural to the Founder, Dorothy James Wesley and sets it apart from other counseling modalities. Spiritual issues, often neglected, are a primary focus of faith-based counseling and are considered to be as important to healing as ministry to the body and soul. When we examine the root of the problem it often has formed contrary thought patterns in the belief system. When the root is exposed and examined and targeted in lieu of the symptoms, the results are lasting healing and recovery. Hence the is key to success and therefore we have incorporated the application of the Faith-Based Therapy™ Model.
