Certification Process

Legacy Institute has its authority in cooperation with the Association of Christian Alcohol and Drug Counselors (“ACADC”), which is one of several certification organizations authorized by the California Department of Alcohol & Drug Programs ("ADP") to certify Drug and Alcohol Counselors to grant Drug and Alcohol Counselor Certifications. Legacy Institute, in cooperation with ACADC, is bound by the Doctrine of Sola Scriptura, the mainstream Christian doctrine governing biblical churches throughout the world that declares the sufficiency of scripture to counsel any man, woman, or child with regard to all issues pertaining to the human soul, including the mind, will and emotions. Legacy Institute, in cooperation with ACADC, is further bound by this doctrine to not compromise Christian Biblical standards in the material taught through its several Institutes.

The California Department of Licensed Vocational Nurses and Psychiatric Technicians have further granted Legacy Institute, in cooperation with ACADC, authority to issue Continuing Education Credits for all courses taken to meet professional annual certification requirements.

Admittance into Legacy Institute’s counseling and Degree program begins with Entrance Inventory testing. Upon completion of this phase, Legacy Institute will certify you to take the initial CSAC Exam (CSAC I), which requires a registration form, and check or money order payable in the amount of $325 to ACADC. This fee covers registration, the initial CSAC Exam, and your certificate upon completion. Additionally, upon completion of the registration process, you will be added to the official rolls as a member of ACADC. Upon receipt of your registration form and exam fee, your CSAC Entrance Exam will be administered by Legacy Institute. With a passing score of 70% or higher, a CSAC I Certification will be granted which qualifies you as an entry level drug and alcohol counselor and allowing  you to complete your other requirements for the CSAC II and CDAAC designations. The CSAC I Entry Level Program prepares a student to counsel within a ministry or recovery program under qualified supervision and grants a certification that allows one to fulfill the 2,080 hour state requirement to move the CSAC II Level.
